Tech Mahindra Aptitude Tests

A significant focus of the Tech Mahindra recruitment process is on ability tests, which include:

  • English language tests
  • English language comprehension tests
  • Quantitative ability tests
  • Verbal reasoning tests
  • Non-verbal reasoning tests

Tech Mahindra English language tests

There are two English language tests that Tech Mahindra ask candidates to sit:

English language test 1 : 10 questions, with a time limit of 10 minutes

English language test 2 : 20 questions, with a time limit of 18 minutes

These tests assess a candidate’s understanding and knowledge of all aspects of the English language, such as sentence arrangement, tenses, spotting errors, and analogies.

Tech Mahindra English language comprehension tests

This test examines a candidate’s reading comprehension ability. There are five questions, with seven minutes allowed.

When completing the English language tests, it is essential to remain calm and ensure that you have thoroughly read the information instead of skim-reading it.

Tech Mahindra quantitative ability tests

The quantitative ability test assesses a candidate’s problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical skills.

There are 11 questions in this test, with 13 minutes allowed. The test presents information in a variety of different formats. For example, numerical information such as percentages, financial information such as profit and loss, or mechanical information such as speed.

Candidates need to use their quantitative analysis skills to read the question, understand and analyse this information, and then select the multiple-choice answer they believe to be correct.

Tech Mahindra verbal reasoning tests

There are two types of verbal reasoning test that Tech Mahindra invites candidates to take.

General verbal reasoning test : 21 questions to complete in 20 minutes

Verbal reasoning paragraph test : 3 questions to finish in 4 minutes

These verbal reasoning tests assess a candidate’s ability to read and understand text-based information. This information could be presented in the form of sentences or as a passage of text. Candidates need to read this information then answer the questions that follow.

The questions generally take the form of statements, with candidates selecting whether the statement is false, true, or they cannot say based on the information given.

Tech Mahindra non-verbal reasoning tests

The non-verbal test focuses on a candidate’s ability to interpret information presented in various forms, such as patterns, shapes, or sequences. Candidates must complete five questions in four minutes.

Candidates need to use their analytical, abstract reasoning, and logical reasoning skills to determine the pattern and select the correct answer from the list of multiple-choice answers given.

These tests are often used in the recruitment for IT or engineering roles, where abstract data or information to solve problems is a vital part of the role.

Tech Mahindra essay writing round

If successful at the pre-screening online assessments, the next part of the Tech Mahindra recruitment process is a further round of tests and assessments.

One of these evaluates applicants’ ability to write a short essay in 15 minutes.

As with all assessments, it is important to remain calm when writing your essay. Ensure that you have checked for any mis-spelling, used the correct tenses, structured your sentences correctly, and used appropriate paragraphs.

Tech Mahindra technical round

The technical round is formed of two parts: an initial technical test comprising 26 role-related questions with a time limit of 60 minutes; and a more advanced technical test covering data structures, software testing concepts, database query languages, algorithms and Linux.

Refreshing your memory beforehand on any mechanical, programme, software or database principles will mean that you approach the test in a positive frame of mind.

Tech Mahindra HR round

The final stage is an interview with a representative of the HR team. This interview can also include a technical interview element, depending on the role applied for.

The questions asked at the HR round focus on a candidate’s understanding and knowledge of the role at Tech Mahindra and their commitment to a career with the company. Example questions may be asked where candidates need to provide examples from the previous experience to support the assessed competency.

Candidates may also be asked to reflect on previous projects or learning experiences as part of the interview process.

Preparing for the interview is essential. Reviewing the company website, as well as the job description, is necessary. Also, considering when you have demonstrated the job requirements and aptitudes required for the role will show the interviewer that you have the skills, experience, and commitment to a career at Tech Mahindra.

Read carefully

What I like about this test is that you'll learn in every situation. What I dislike is that it's too long to read.
