What is the Next application process?
Next runs a mostly interview-led hiring process that varies by role. Most applications follow four stages: an online application, an initial phone or video conversation, a role-appropriate assessment or interview, and a job offer. Retail and warehouse roles usually go straight to an in-store assessment and interview, while some Head Office, trainee and graduate roles add short online numerical and verbal reasoning tests and a recorded video interview. Formal aptitude testing is used only for certain roles, not every applicant.

Next Aptitude Tests
Next Numerical Reasoning Tests
Next Numerical Reasoning test usually comprises of 20 questions to be answered in 20 minutes. They relate to graphs, percentages and tables whereby you will be asked to analyse data and choose from a set of multiple choice answers. These are designed to test your numerical abilities. It is advisable to practice these before taking the tests in order to get the timing correct.
Next Verbal Reasoning Tests
You will be presented with a series of paragraphs which you will be required to read and then answer questions. Your options in the Next Verbal Reasoning test will be True, False or Cannot Tell. This test will be assessing your analytical skills as well as your comprehension and grammar. Again, it is advisable to practice as you need to be able to read all of the information without rushing but with enough time to answer all questions.
Next Group Exercise
The group exercise demonstrates how you work and perform in a team. The group will be presented with information, including a number of issues and you will need to produce solutions. Ensure to find a balance between speaking up and making your point but without dominating the group. You must show the assessor that you can work well in any situation, especially within a team as that is something that will be expected of you at the company.
