The telephone or video interview will be your first opportunity to convey your enthusiasm, skills and motivations outside of a written statement or online test. The interview will be competency-based and focus on your CV and cover letter.

Ensure you can solidly evidence all your answers. The STAR method (Situation, Task, Action and Result) is a great framework to use in your preparation, so you can confidently convey that you meet the key criteria.

Importantly, remember to display the real you – Morgan Stanley values expressive and honest individuals. Avoid sounding too rehearsed and allow your genuine enthusiasm to come through.

Morgan Stanley assessment centre

The Morgan Stanley assessment centre is a half-day process. It will require you to complete a group exercise, which will assess your ability to show initiative under pressure and work well with colleagues.

Morgan Stanley has a collaborative culture, so ensure you use this task to display your leadership potential alongside effective team-working.

You will also be asked to deliver an individual presentation. You will be given a short brief, required to conduct research and then present your findings clearly and concisely. It is likely you will not be given the topic until the day, but you can prepare by honing your presentation skills on quick-fire topics with friends and family.

The assessment centre will also feature two further interviews. One will be skills-based to explore your experience and talents, and the other competency-based to assess how well you fit with Morgan Stanley’s values and key competencies. Ensure that you know these well, so you can illustrate how your behaviours align.

    Didn't know number of questions

Initially thought it was 25 questions so was in no rush. Only after around ten minutes I found out there were 50, so I had to speed up. Would be better to know there were 50 questions initially.

To get an idea about how the aptitude test would be, it was really nice

I liked the idea of putting a timer at the top ,so that we can be aware of the time while solving the questions. It was a little bit tricky but I think I would have done it better if I had practiced beforehand. But with proper presence of mind you can easily solve the questions in the given time.

Small font makes it a eye test as well as a aptitude test

Good I guess. Could have done with bigger font. I'm not sure how effective these tests are at actually testing a persons aptitude but whatever works I suppose.
