Numerical Reasoning Test

This comprises of a series of questions relating to graphs, percentages and tables whereby you will be asked to analyse data and chose from a set of multiple choice answers. These will be timed so ensure you sit them in a quiet environment. Citi used TalentQ as their test designer. These tests depend on the type of scheme that you are applying for. You may be asked to sit this type of test again at the assessment day or first interview.


Diagrammatic / Logical Reasoning

This psychometric test comprises of a series of questions relating to sequences of shapes and patterns. In each question there will be a missing step and you will be provided with a number of answers to choose from. You may be asked to sit this type of test again at the assessment day or first interview.


Group Exercise

The group exercise demonstrates how you work and perform in a team. The group might be presented with information, including a number of issues and you will need to produce solutions or there might be a debate. It may also relate to the case study. Ensure to find a balance between speaking up and making your point but without dominating the group. You must show the assessor that you can work well in any situation, especially within a team as that is something that will be expected of you at the company.


Presentation Case Study

You might be asked to give a short presentation based on a case study. This will be given to you at the assessment centre but you will be given time to prepare and will be allowed to take prompts in with you. This will be assessing your public speaking and presenting skills. You will also be expected to answer questions following completion of your presentation. Ensure you read widely prior to the assessment centre about the organisation and industry.



There are a number of interviews involved in this recruitment process, both before and during the assessment centre. Ensure that you have a wide knowledge of the company in terms of its values and how it works. Preparation is important, if anything to ensure a more relaxed persona during the actual interview.


Written Exercise

You’ll be given material to read, usually a type of case study relating to the company, and be expected to write a report. This will be to assess your written communication skills as well as grammar and vocab and how you would deal with given scenarios in the workplace.
