In the current job market, many companies are moving towards online aptitude tests as part of their recruitment process. JP Morgan is one of these companies. The reasoning behind this shift is that it allows for a more efficient and cost-effective way to screen candidates.

There are a few different types of online aptitude tests that JP Morgan uses.

JP Morgan numerical reasoning tests

Numerical reasoning tests measure an individual’s ability to understand and manipulate numerical information. These tests are often used as a screening tool for job applicants to identify individuals who may excel in roles that require strong mathematical skills, such as financial analysts or data analysts.

JP Morgan verbal reasoning tests

Time pressure is what makes these online aptitude tests difficult. This is because the test-takers feel like they have to hurry through the questions.

To prepare for these assessments, candidates should familiarise themselves with the test format. Timed practice aptitude tests are available online and can be used to get an idea of the types of questions that will be asked, and get used to the time limit.

JP Morgan video interview

If you are applying for a student or graduate program, the next stage in the recruitment process is an invitation to participate in a HireVue video interview. This is not an interview conducted over a video call, but rather recording answers to a set of predetermined questions.

The video interview is on-demand, so you can choose to do your video interview at your convenience, as long as it is submitted before the deadline. Before starting the interview, you will have the opportunity to test your microphone and camera to make sure everything is working correctly, and also practice some sample questions so you can get an idea of what to expect.

The interview will consist of around 3–5 competency-based questions, and will typically take around 10–15 minutes to complete. For each question, you will have 30 seconds to prepare, and then between 90 seconds and 3 minutes to respond (depending on the complexity of the question). You will also have the option to re-record your response once.
