The Elements adaptive ability tests, Aspects screening, the KF4D and leadership potential assessments and viaEdge. How the per-question adaptive timing works, which employers set which, and how the percentile is read against the role.

A Korn Ferry assessment is an online test from the global consulting firm's assessment range, much of it built on the Talent Q products Korn Ferry acquired. The Elements ability tests, covering verbal, numerical and logical reasoning, are adaptive and give you roughly 75 to 90 seconds per question. Aspects handles high volume screening, and untimed questionnaires such as the KF4D profile personality and leadership traits.
Which Korn Ferry test you sit depends on the employer and the role: an entry-level position will not be given the same assessment as a graduate or managerial one.
Four things to know before you sit one. Timings and difficulty vary with the level of the role.
Your invitation email will name the assessment rather than describe it. This is what each name means, how many questions it carries and how long you get.
| Assessment | What it measures | Questions | Time limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elements Verbal | Understanding and interpreting written, business-related information; adaptive | 15 | 15 min |
| Elements Numerical | Analysing statistical data in tables and charts; adaptive | 12 | 15 min |
| Elements Logical | Seeing patterns and themes in shapes and symbols; adaptive | 12 | 15 min |
| Aspects checking and ability | Comparing information quickly and accurately, with verbal and numerical screening for volume roles | Short | About 8 min |
| Assessment of Leadership Potential (KFALP) | The most effective action in work scenarios, against the role's competencies | Scenarios | Untimed |
| Four-Dimensional Assessment (KF4D) | Competencies, experiences, traits and drivers, from scenarios and self-ratings | Mixed | Untimed |
| viaEdge | Learning agility across mental, people, change, results and self-awareness | Questionnaire | Untimed |
Counts and timings vary by role level and by the version an employer licences. Check the instructions on the screen before you start. Facts checked August 2026.

One question tells you the style. A pack gives you the pace: timed and marked, with the working shown.
Which ones you sit depends on the role. Cognitive tests come from the Talent Q Elements and Aspects range; the leadership and personality assessments are Korn Ferry’s own.
A series of work scenarios, each with several possible actions. You pick the most effective response, which is measured against the competencies for the role, in the style of a situational judgement test. It is used to predict potential to move into more senior leadership.
Example KFALP question
During a team project, you notice that one of your team members is struggling to complete their tasks on time and appears overwhelmed. As a leader, how would you address this situation?
A) Ignore the issue and hope it resolves itself
B) Delegate the struggling team member’s tasks to others without discussing it with them
C) Approach the team member privately, offer support, and discuss possible solutions
D) Publicly call out the team member in a meeting for not meeting expectations
Answer: C. Approaching the team member privately, offering support and discussing solutions shows the empathy and communication the assessment is looking for. The other options escalate the problem, damage morale or ignore it.
Measures competencies, experiences, traits and drivers through a mix of multiple-choice questions, situational judgement scenarios and self-rating questionnaires on personality, values and interests. Untimed, and profiled rather than scored.
Measures learning agility across five factors: mental, people, change, results and self-awareness. A mix of self-assessment, situational judgement and forced-choice questions, used to identify people who adapt and learn in unfamiliar situations.
The adaptive ability tests, timed per question. Numerical reasoning asks you to interpret data, figures and statistics with no more than basic maths; verbal reasoning asks you to draw conclusions from a passage without using prior knowledge; logical reasoning asks you to find the rule in a pattern and apply it. Inductive and spatial reasoning appear for roles that need them.
Example numerical question
If a company’s revenue is $180,000 and its expenses are $135,000, what is the company’s profit margin?
A) 25%
B) 30%
C) 35%
D) 40%
Answer: A. Profit margin is (revenue minus expenses) divided by revenue: ($180,000 - $135,000) / $180,000 = 0.25, or 25%.
What candidates ask us most often
Largely, yes. Korn Ferry acquired Talent Q in 2014, and its ability tests are the Talent Q Elements and Aspects products under the Korn Ferry name. If an invitation says Talent Q, Elements or Korn Ferry, the format is the same adaptive, per-question-timed test, and the Talent Q guide covers the individual tests in more detail.
Each question carries its own clock of roughly 75 to 90 seconds, and the test moves you on when it runs out whether or not you have answered. Because the difficulty adapts to your answers, you cannot bank time on easy questions for later; work each one steadily and commit before the clock does.
The Four-Dimensional Assessment profiles you on competencies, experiences, traits and drivers. It combines situational judgement questions about workplace scenarios with self-rating questionnaires on personality, values and interests, and is untimed. There are no right answers to the self-ratings, so answer consistently rather than strategically.
Korn Ferry has developed four dimensions of leadership and talent:
The Assessment of Leadership Potential does not require any previous knowledge or research. It presents work scenarios and asks for the most effective action, measured against the competencies for the role, so the best preparation is to read each scenario for what the team actually needs and answer as you genuinely would. Consistency across scenarios matters more than picking the boldest option.

I didn't know the percentages of funds would appear when you hover over the pie chart until I had done a few questions. I was estimating based on the picture
I liked that it gives me a good idea of the type of questions i could be asked on the korn ferry test that i have to take for a potential job position
I didn't like that there were so many of each type of question. More variety would be good. Otherwise a good first dip into the Korn Ferry.
