In-Tray Exercise
In-Tray exercises are used to assess three particular skills:
- 1) Time Management
- 2) Organisation
- 3) Prioritisation
An In-tray exercise is a simulation that presents you with a work-like scenario. You will be required you to take the role of one of the employees of the company (typically the brand you have applied to work for) and handle that situation.
You will be faced with a number of tasks that you will have to work through and prioritise accordingly, providing explanations to your decisions.
These types of assessments also measure your ability to make decisions and take ownership, so it is important that you get used to completing them so that you can demonstrate these skills.
Be mindful that these types of exercises may also require you to analyse and process data. These are especially common within the legal and financial professions.
Make sure you read the questions thoroughly to minimise any errors and be sure to demonstrate accurate spelling and grammar.
