Free Psychometric Test Sample Questions and Answers
Psychometric tests are a type of assessment commonly used during the hiring process. They explore the cognitive ability or personality characteristics of candidates, to measure their suitability for a role.
Psychometric tests come in many forms and styles, each measuring a specific skill or aptitude. They are broadly separated into two categories:
- Aptitude tests, which explore a candidate’s reasoning or cognitive ability. Common aptitude tests include numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, inductive reasoning and abstract reasoning.
- Personality tests: these assess a candidate’s behaviours, drives, motivations and values to determine how well they fit the company and role.
As you typically do not need to learn any new information before taking a psychometric test, you can’t ‘revise’ for them as such. But practicing sample tests will help improve your scores by familiarising you with the format and style of the questions.

- $490,000
- $540,000
- $550,000
- $790,000

Sample spatial awareness test question
Which of the boxes comes next in the sequence?
Answers & Solutions
Sample numerical reasoning test question
Answer: A) $490,000
Solution:
- Find the number of wireless headphones produced in 2019.
- Divide the number produced by 50 (the headphones are sold in batches of 50).
- Multiply this number (i.e. the number of batches) by the cost per batch.
- You need to do a separate calculation as each ‘grade’ of headphone costs a different amount:
Grade A 2019 = 25,000 ÷ 50 x $500 = $250,000
Grade C 2019 = 80,000 ÷ 50 x $150 = $240,000
Total = $250,000 + $240,000 = $490,000
Sample abstract reasoning test question
Answer: B
Solution: The circle is in the bottom-left every three turns, and the triangle is present in every two turns. Therefore, the box should not have a circle or triangle inside it.
Sample verbal reasoning test question
Answer: True
Solution: In the last sentence, it mentions how ‘individual employers and independent therapists have their own boundaries and must agree this contractually with their client at the outset of their therapeutic relationship’. Therefore, therapists do have some flexibility regarding what they deem serious enough to breach confidentiality.
Sample inductive reasoning test question
Answer: B
Solution: The number of sides of each shape is decreasing by 2 each time you move along. The previous shape has 6 sides, so the missing shape must have 4 sides.
Sample spatial awareness test question
Answer: D
Solution: The large square overlays the small square with every two turns. The triangle moves from the top-left corner to the top-right corner with every turn. Therefore, there should be no large square, and the triangle should be in the top-right corner.
