At a team meeting, it is discussed that the internal website isn’t user friendly and is difficult to access. All of the information relating to products and services that you sell is outdated and this is causing issues amongst the team. Everyone at the meeting is asked to come up with suggestions but is advised that the budget for change is limited.

What do you do?

a) Suggest that the site is shut down and everyone should just send each other new information as and when they require. b) Point out that the current site is useless and suggest a large investment in a sophisticated system. c) Offer to run a series of discussion groups for key staff to capture ideas for potential improvements.

Option C is correct as rather than just shutting it down or investing heavily in a new system, it’s important to understand both the good and points to inform the decision moving forwards.
